Minutes from the regular meeting held on February 10, 1942.
Our regular meeting was held on Feb. 10, 1942 at the Hebrew Institute.
THe following officers and members were present. Rabbi B.G. Axelman, Ch. Joseph Goldman treas. Louis Jacobs. Ellec Ellison. Louis Karesh. Macy Kronsberg. Nathan Goldberg. Joseph Fromberg. H.L. Garfinkel. Oscar Sokol. J. Sokol. visitor Mrs. Axelman.
The Meeting opened up with brother Goldman reading his annual report and statement of the Chas. Dist, Z.O.A. from Oct, 1, 1940 to Sept. 30, 1941. Statement adn report of the J.N. Fund of same period was also read by brother Goldman.
Election of Officers took place.
Mr. Ellec Ellison nominated brother Joseph Fromberg for the presidencey of the Chas, Dist, Z.O.A. Seconded by brother Macy Kronsberg the election was unanimously passed and accepted. Rabbi Axelman than [sic] asked brother Louis Jacobs, and Macy Kronsberg to escort the newly elected Chairman to his Chair.
Chairman Fromberg thanked the members for the confidence which they have placed in him and in his leadership, and promised to give his untiring effort for the cause of Palestine, asserting, Zionism is my dream, The land my heart always yearned for, since early childhood I have lived in the midst of Zion, In that spirit I hope to continue to labor for Eretz Israel. He further stressed, I hope that each and everyone in our community will embrace that spirit, join up with our movement, and endeavor, to make Palestine a home of security, not only to Israel but to all umankind who desire to live in that ancient land. He urged the members to bring in new members, so when the time comes to take part at the peace table our efforts will not be in vain. Brother J. Goldman nominated Rabbi Raisin for Vice President, seconded by Ellec Ellison the election was unanimously passed and accepted. Rabbi Axelman nominated Brother J. Goldman for Treas, seconded by L. Karesh the election was unanimously passed and accepted. Macy Kronsberg nominated M. Klein for record, secty, seconded by Ellec ELlison the election was unanimously passed and accepted. Brother J. Goldman was unanimously elected correspondence secty, Brother Louis Karsesh nominated Ellec Ellison for chairman of membership, seconded by the chair the same was unanimously passed and accepted. Brother Louis Karesh nominated Rabbi Axelman as Ch. of program and publicity committee seconded by brother Goldman same was unanimously passed and accepted.
The following Board of directors were elected. Nathan Goldberg. M. Kronsberg. H. Karesh. D. Coleman. H.L. Garfinkel. H. Sholk. I. Lesser. and exofficio Ch. of two committees.
Rabbi Axelman advised us that he received communications from headquarters that Rabbi Brickner will not visit our city as it was first thought that he would. Oscar Sokol offered his services to look after the J.N.F.B.
The Chair called upon our honored visitor Mrs. Axelman to give us some information about the local Hadasah [sic] Chapter, Mrs, Axelman suggested that a joint meeting should be held wit hboth organizations so as to create a closer relationship with its work. The Chair appointed Mr. Nathan Goldberg to attend the Hadasah [sic] meeting in spirit of good will and closer relationship with both chapters. Mrs. Axelman also informed us that Mrs. Ellec Ellison is the Ch. of that committee. The Chair advided us taht the local Z.O.A. henceforth meet on the first sunday of each month.
No further business the meeting was closed with the singing of the Hatikva,
