Minutes of the regular meeting held on December 1, 1940.
Our regular meeting was held on Dec. 1st, 1940 at Brith Shalom meeting place. The following Officers and members were present, Rabbi Axelman Ch. J. Goldman Treas, Ellec Elison, Sol Goldman, Macy Kronsberg, D. Coleman, Louie Rabinowitz, L. Givner, Louis Karesh, A. Kirstein, J. Fromberg, Visitors Miss GIvner
The meeting was opened by Rabbi Axelman with out the minutes being read by the recording secty, Rabbi Axelman introduced brother J. Fromberg as speaker for the evening.
Brother Fromberg spoke on Chas, Z.O.A. and deplored the fact that the local chapter lacks the enthusiasm and support of our community, brother Fromberg further stresseds that part of the european Countries which he visited several years ago found some communities with that same lack of spirit, and that he has consulted wiht some of those leaders on the same subject, they also were impressed with the idea that it cannot happen here, but we all know what it has taken place. He further stressed on his inspired trip to Palestine and the great achivement [sic] of the land which was desolate and deserted for two thousand years is now a land of zuvas, chulav, dwash, he pleaded with us that those pioneers should not be neglected and kept back from their spiritual task, after all their success means the redemption of all Israel and finished with the words of Isaiah, that out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Brother J. Goldman read his financial statement of Charleston Z.O.A. from May 1, 1939, to Sept. 30, 1939, statement of the J.N.F. for the same period was also read by brother J. Goldman.
Statement for the local Z.O.A. from Oct. 1, 1939 to Sept. 30, 1940 was read, also the J.N.F. statement for the same period was read.
No further business the meeting was closed with the singing of the Hatikvah.
