Invitation to join a national day of prayer for Palestinian Jews

The congregations of all Synagogues in charleston are joining with approximately 2,000 Jewish Synagogues throughout the country have designated Thursday, April 8 as "a day of prayer and intercession in behalf of our brothers in Palestine and for peace in the Holy Land." The nation-wide event is sponsored by the Synagogue Council of America which represents orthodox, conservative and reform Jewish rabbinical and congregational bodies in the United States.
In Charleston special prayer services will be held 8:15 P.M. Thursday, April 8th simultaneously at Beth Israel Synagogue, 182 Rutledge Ave. and Synagogue Dannu El. Godon St. Persons of all faiths are invited to attend.
a joint letter directed to the Jewish citizens of Chareston by the Rabbis and presidents of four local synagogues said, "the Jewish community in Palestine is now being treatened wit extermination by the reversal of the American Government's policy on the United Nation's decision of Palestine. In the face of much danger no one should reamin indifferent. Every Jew- Man, woman, and child- is called upon to join in a National Day of Prayer and Intercession proclaimed by the Synagogue Council of America. This Day of prayer will express the fervent hope of Americans that peace will come to the Holy Land and that the age-old hopes of our people will be fulfilled."
Participating in the special prayer services are: K.K. Beth Klohim, Allant H. Tarshish, rabbi. Milton Pearlstine, president; K.K. Beth Isreal [sic], Samuel W. Rubenstein, rabbi, Morris Sokol, president: B'rith Sholom Synagogue, Gilbert Klaperman, rabi, Sam Berlin, president: Synagogue emma-El, Lewis A. Weintraub, rabbi, Macey Kronsberg, president.
