At Mother's request I send you a postal order for $50 pay able to your order --
We are all pained to hear of what a hard time you have had and hope that you will exceed at the city R.R. I think though that you are [illegible] calculated for a business man and think that you ought to keep on the look out for some clerkship. To this end I enclose a letter which I hope may assist you--
Gen T. M. Logan, [Thomas Muldrup Logan] formerly of our city is now Pres. of the Rich. & Danville R.R. [Richmond and Danville Rail Road] [illegible] who married his sister attends to his business by applying to Ben L. you might get a place in the R.R.--If you need any further endorsement or if I can assist you in any way let me hear from you
