Image #546 (4.5" x 2.75"): "7-22-29. Pulling our first pile using A-frame from one of the Span Travelers, and 150 FP [foot pounds] gas. hoist. Nine (9) part falls. Pile pulled easily at 35 tons - only 20 ft. penetration and bearing on marl. Some piles broke or cut in two under 85 to 90 ton pull."; Image #547 (2.75" x 4.5"): "7-22-29.
