Augusta, Ga. Feby 19th, 1864
We certify that we have carefully examined Lt. Col. E. Croft in Hospital No. of Co. 14th Reg't S.C. Vols. Mr. Gowan's Brigade, Post Office, Aiken, S.C. and find him unfit for duty by reason of gunshot wound of right hand
and wrist - ball passed through wrist joint wound still discharging- received at Gettysburg. We further declare our belief that he wil not be able to do duty in a less period than 30 days and therefore recommend an extension of his furlough for that period. At the expiration thereof he will repost to his Captain.
