Handwritten on the circular is a request to Barnwell from the "Baltimore Lord's Day Association" to help disseminate circulars in the southern states and to solicit the services of "Judge Berrian" or other prominent southerners to write the "directors and stockholders in the railroads on the subject of the Sabbath."
